Notice of Limited Business Operations
PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY
The Firefighters' Retirement System Office is Operating on Limited Basis
All benefits will be paid in full and on time
As you are probably aware, as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, Governor John Bel Edwards has declared a Public Health emergency in the State of Louisiana and he issued Proclamation No. 93 JBE 2021, which provides that all citizens of the state should stay at home if they are at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19, unless they are two weeks beyond receiving a full administration of COVID-19 vaccination. Pursuant to that proclamation, the FRS office is opened, but only on a limited basis. Business for members must be conducted by telephone. If you call the FRS office and reach a telephone recording, please leave a message with your name and phone number and an FRS employee will return your call as soon as possible. If a visual meeting is requested by a member, then we will gladly accommodate a virtual meeting through use of the Zoom program which can be held on any electronic device that has camera capabilities. For all other business, you may continue to send forms and applications to the FRS by fax, email or U.S. postal mail and they will be processed. FRS looks forward to returning to normal operations when all governmental restrictions are lifted. Thank you for your understanding and we pray all our members remain in good health.
